What Restaurants are open or closed today?
Where can I get a quick snack?

If your habits don’t change, you won’t have a new year…you will just have another year.

Winter, and January in particular, is a great time to assess your life—the things that are working and the things you want to change. Do you want to improve your health, a relationship, or your involvement in the community? January is the perfect time to make some decisions to at least try something new instead of just drifting into the next year doing the same things.
I’ve purposefully posted the FREE classes that are held almost daily at Town Hall just this week so you will be reminded they are available and FREE! In addition, don’t forget there is a section in every single Good Morning Idyllwild called “Body & Soul” that takes you to a page where many of the health and fitness classes are listed, along with a link to their schedules. Click here to go directly to that page.
Many people tell me, “I’m going to get involved and volunteer with an organization up here on the Hill this year.” I happen to know personally that volunteers are desperately needed in many different organizations, and most don’t require special skills—just a willingness to give a small amount of time weekly or monthly. I am ALWAYS looking for willing people to man the Visitor Center in town for 2½ hours once a month, as well as volunteers to man the Historical Museum for the same time period once a month. You don’t have to know anything special to do this.
There are numerous jobs twice a month for a three-hour stint working with the Food Distribution program, Mountain Community Mutual Aid. I donate a couple of hours once a quarter to lay out the newsletter for the Friends of the Library. There are so many needs and so many opportunities. And the thing I enjoy the most is that with every different group I work with, I meet and get to know fascinating and talented people I’ve never known before—in spite of living here for 31 years. For me, that has been the most rewarding part of volunteering with the five different organizations I’m involved in.
Also included every week here on Good Morning Idyllwild is a list of organizations that need volunteers. Click here to go directly to that list. So make up your mind to do something DIFFERENT this year and get involved somehow, somewhere—even if it’s just one new free exercise class. Make it a NEW YEAR… not just ANOTHER YEAR.

We’re covering it all:
Source: Learn about our reliance on groundwater wells and the role of Foster Lake and Strawberry Creek in our supply.
Quality: Find out how the water is treated, including pH adjustment and disinfection, to keep it safe and clean.
Quantity: What are our storage capacities? We’ll share the numbers on the 18 million gallons of raw water storage in Foster Lake and total system capacity.
🌲 Sustainability: Understanding the unique challenges of supplying water in a semi-arid mountain environment.
